Authentic yakitori place, typical wait around 30-45mins but if you don’t mind the bar, you might get seated much faster. Favorite skewers include scallop, pork with scallions and beef with sauce. Also enjoyed the beef tongue and mushrooms. Servers very responsive and the ordering system is intuitive and simple enough even for a newbie. One of the hidden gems in South Bay area. Well worth the trip!!

The restaurant is nice, quiet, cozy, clean, and peaceful. You have to scan the qr code to order by yourself. If you don't have a phone, they can help to order for you. The food good but not as I remembered long time ago. Good place to have lunch or dinner with family or friends.

We ordered a lot (too much) and ate them all as they were so good! Lots of varieties and Yakitori as well. People working there were kind and helpful. Only thing we didn't like was their Yelp Waitlist system. It is confusing! But we didn't wait too long so I guess I should not complain much but minus one star.

Sumiya is an absolute gem! Our to go options any time we crave Japanese food (sushi/sashimi aside). The open kitchen adds to the authenticity, and the atmosphere is wonderfully genuine. We can't get enough of their Yurinchi. Also, if you are adventurous, the chicken liver and heart skewers were fantastic!

The food is not that good and very expensive! We felt like we just had 4 meat balls and the bill is $67!?!?! With the price we can get 2 lobsters somewhere else!! The meat is dry, the pork has too much fat. I don’t know I don’t think it’s worth the price at all!!!!!!!!!!! The service is on your phone.

Sumiya is a must try if you like tapas style sharing. Great grilled flavors of meat and seafood over open charcoal tubes. Flavor is on point and so is the service!

Not too much Japanese yakitori house in Bay Area . Sumika , Gaku , Kokko is not that easy to get in need reservation , Sumiya is the easy one . I love Mi with skin , soft chicken with crispy skin on top , so good ! Ika shioyaki also is great , size is small but great quality. Use online waiting list is the easy way !

The beef and the grilled mackerel were delicious, Id come here just for those 2 things. But everything else was either way too salty (such as the duck) too bland (like the shrimp) or the wrong temperature. For example the rice was warm in some spots and dead cold in others which made for a very weird experience. Wouldn't be back unless I was craving their beef.
